April in the PNW is a time of transition, coming out of winter and the shortest days of the year. Flowers start to bloom and the sun returns after a long winter. The people who call this part of the world home must be hearty. I want to do a bikepacking trip and interview all walks of life that I meet along the way. The people will tell the story. It will be less about the adventure and more about wisdom and philosophy found all over coastal BC and Washington.
The route will go in a loop around coastal BC and Washington, I will have a broad spectrum of people I’ll encounter. From city people of Vancouver to rural communities only accessible by gravel roads. People traveling by bike are easier to approach, and I already have lots of great conversations with strangers when I go bikepacking.
Planning this story from a keyboard is hard because I don't know exactly what I will get… I plan on doing as many interviews as I can and being adaptable to any route the story goes.
List of questions I’ll ask:
How does the beginning of spring feel after winter?
Why do you love this part of the world?
What lessons does winter teach you?
What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself?
Do you have any philosophies that you live by?
What do you think of traveling by bike?
